This policy prohibits the possession, use, storage, or distribution of weapons, hazardous devices, explosive materials, and certain dangerous substances on Central College property in order to promote campus safety and protect the college community.

 

POLICY – WEAPONS, FIRE ARMS AND DANGEROUS OBJECTS

Overview

Central College prohibits firearms, weapons, fireworks, dangerous devices, hazardous fuels, certain chemicals, and other potentially dangerous objects on campus, except as otherwise authorized by law or college policy.

Definitions

Firearm: Any weapon designed to expel a projectile through explosive force.

Weapon: An object capable of causing bodily harm, including firearms, swords, bows, nunchuks, and similar items.

Dangerous Object: Any item that may pose a risk to the health or safety of individuals or property.

Hazardous Material: A substance that presents a fire, chemical, explosive, or safety hazard.

Fireworks: Explosive or combustible devices intended to create visual or sound effects.

Responsibilities

Students, Employees, and Visitors: Refrain from possessing, using, storing, or distributing prohibited weapons and hazardous materials on campus.

Campus Safety Personnel: Respond to safety concerns and investigate reported incidents.

Policy Details

The possession or use of any type of firearm, ammunition, gunpowder, fireworks, air rifle, air pistol, blade-based weapon, sword, paintball gun, fireworks, bows, compressed air or gas operated gun, nunchuks, chukka stick or other dangerous object is prohibited.  Sterno cans, kerosene lamps, kerosene heaters, propane and other chemicals, etc., are prohibited.  The use of mercury thermometers is prohibited.
