Pest control services

Body

Overview

The Facilities Management Building Services department is responsible for coordinating pest control services for college academic and administrative buildings and residence halls. Dining Services contracts directly with an off-campus service for pest control in their food service locations. Campus rental properties are responsible for their own pest control.

If you need pest control assistance, please submit a Facilities Management Building Services service request, or call the Facilities Management Service desk at 641-628-7676.

Central uses integrative pest management which is a process to solve pest problems while using minimal pesticides. This minimizes the risks to people and the environment.  Our pest control solutions extend beyond the application of pesticides.  Structural and environment modifications that reduce food, water, and access points are important.

The typical pests we encounter are gnats, flies, Boxelder bugs, Oriental beetles, wasps, silverfish, spiders, cockroaches, and mice.

If you are encountering bugs in your workspace or room, if possible capture one and put in a Ziploc, so we can confirm the identity and treat accordingly.

The Facilities Management Grounds staff also provides assistance to manage such pests as squirrels, raccoons, bats and birds using catch and release methods.

Suspected bed bugs should be reported to Student Development staff and the protocols they have set forth will be followed.

Contact Student Development Staff in the following order:

  • Director of Residence Life
  • On Call Area Coordinator
  • Dean of Students
