Printing to a Campus printer

Overview

Some simple printing methods include:

  • Employees and Students can print directly to a College printer thru Web Print or add the printer to your device.
  • Employees and Students can use Follow Me printers to queue printing jobs and then release them at any Follow Me printer when they are ready.
  • Students can save a document to their Google Drive, OneDrive or send it to themselves through email, then visit a computer lab and print the document.

Each computer lab and residence halls have a printer or students may bring their own printer to campus.

TIP: Remember to print black and white on duplex whenever possible for the most economical option.

Follow-Me print queue

The Follow-Me print option allows you to send any print job to a Follow-Me print queue and then release the print job later.  This feature is ideal for printing confidential information, printing to special paper, or simply delaying a print job. All Sharp-MFPs and Lexmarks with card readers can release print jobs. Lexmarks with card readers are located in Gaas, Graham, McKee, Pietenpol, Scholte North and Scholte South.

How to Send to a "FollowMe" Print Queue

  1. Select File > Print
  2. Choose one of the "FollowMe..."  in the printer list
  3. Change any appropriate settings, such as paper size, orientation, stapling, etc.
  4. Click Print

The print job is now in your print queue for later access.

How to Release a "Follow Me" Print Job to any MFP
Using the Sharp MFPs or Lexmarks with card readers OR the release a print job at the MFP console by logging in. Print jobs are held in the queue up to 3 days.

  1. Send a document to print on the Follow Me queue
  2. Walk up to the printer and Tap your ID card on the card reader located in front on the lid (1st time swipe on an MFP requires users to log in first)
  3. Press "Release Print"
  4. Select the jobs to print, or select "Print all"
  5.  Press Logout when finished

 

Print thru Web Print

Use Web Print from myCentral website without adding a printer

  1. Go to my.central.edu and scroll to find your printing statistics
  2. Select Release print jobs 
  3. Enter your Central College username and password in the PaperCut login
  4. Select Web Print in the left-hand column
  5. Press Submit a Job>>
  6. Select where you want the file to print.
  7. Click on Print Options and Account Selection located at the bottom
  8. Enter the number of copies
  9. Click on Upload Documents
  10. Drag documents to window or click Upload from computer to locate the file
  11. Select Upload and Complete,
  12.  Click on Jobs Pending Release, click print, and select a printer OR go to any printer on campus and release the job by swiping your ID card on the card reader.

Add a printer in Windows 

Adding a printer to a Windows computer.

Option 1

  1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard OR click in the Search bar
  2. Type \\print.central.edu and press enter
  3. Enter centralcollege\username OR username@central.edu and password
  4. Double click on the printer you want to use
  5. Now the printer is added to the list of printers your computer has access to

Option 2

  1. Go to your computer's Settings
  2. Click on the category "Devices" (windows 10) or "Bluetooth and Devices" (windows 11)
  3. Then select "Printers and Scanners
  4. Click on "add printer or scanner" (windows 10) or "add device" (windows 11)
  5. Locate the printer and click on Add device
  6. The printer is now added to your computer for use

Be sure to add the four ‘FollowMe’ printers available on campus. This allows you to print to a queue, then swipe your ID on a printer to release the print job on any printer at a later time. The print job is held for 3 days then deleted if not printed.

 

Add a printer to a Mac

  1. Select System Preferences...from the Apple Menu
  2. Double-click on Printers & Scanners
  3. Click the (+) key
  4. Select the printer
    1. Selecting a Bonjour printer click Add. It allows just printing without printer options.
    2. Selecting PRINT2- printer - Employees only (to take full advantage of printer options)
  5. Select Choose a Driver...  
  6. Choose Select Software...
  7. Select SHARP MX-4071 PPD then OK (if this is not an option, download the drivers from Sharp or contact ITS Help Desk)
  8. Click Add
  9. Under Options and Supplies change the following...
    1. Input Tray: 4
    2. Output Tray Options: Inner Finisher
